Systems Thinking Association, Turkey:

The Systems Thinking Association works in various organizations and capacities across Turkey to build systems thinking skills and collaboration opportunities.
Desired Outcomes and Project Goals:

  • Improve the educational success and outcomes for students in Turkey.
  • Increase the ST capacity of teachers in Turkey to evoke higher levels of thinking and problem-solving from their students.

Highlights:

Systems Thinking in Education Experience Sharing Symposium:

2017 marked the third annual symposium, which was organized in Izmir and hosted by Isikkent Egitim Kampusu (a school that is a part of this ST project). There were 35 presentations (33 featuring teacher work and two group modeling presentations based on The Program for International Student Assessment) and two introductory workshops. In total, 238 participants from various schools attended the symposium.

Cooperation with “Association for Supporting Contemporary Life”:

Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD – Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği) is a non-governmental organization aiming to reach a contemporary society via contemporary education, including systems thinking. The association has 14,368 members in 106 branches countrywide. It’s one of the most influential education associations in Turkey (especially for young women’s education). The association now has three NGOs backing this initiative and supporting systems thinking in education in Turkey.
